1. What is a coprod?
A coprod is an identified user of the touscoprod website that has at least a 10€ co-production share in a project from the catalogue.
2. What does my investment gives me access to?
Your investment gives you a way to communicate with the film team that you are supporting, exclusive content (interview, extracts, online premiere) and various privileges reserved for coprod (invitation to the shoot, your name in the credits, invitation to premieres, etc.)
3. Can we get involved in artistic choices for a film?
Films are presented on touscoprod by authors and producers. They alone make the artistic decisions. However, it is your duty to give them your opinion, to tell them what you are unsure about or what you disagree with. The status of coprod allows you to talk to them directly. Sharing ideas is great for stimulating creativity!
4. How long does it take before a film is made?
It depends on the format and what stage it is at - between writing a feature film screenplay and the film being released, it takes about three years. For a short programme, a few weeks are enough. Some projects involve films that have been completed and are ready to be distributed - the budget should allow them to be distributed within 3 to 6 months.
5. What does ‘the state of progress’ mean for a project?

It describes progress on the project according to the following three phases:

Development (writing) Développement

This phase involves getting a screenplay to a stage where production of the film can begin.

The investment required can finance:
- purchase of rights (an adaptation from a book, the use of screenplay, etc),
- re-writing (by the author or sometimes a co-author),
- the preparation of a financial plan (estimates for the film, presentation, requests for funding from the National Cinema Centre or regional authorities, etc),
- identification of partners in broadcasting, distribution or co-production.
In return for development funding, touscoprod negotiates with the producers a share in the profits when the film is released.

Production (shooting) Production

In the production phase, the project needs funding to balance its budget and cover expenditure related to shooting and postproduction (editing, sound, special effects, etc.).

touscoprod assists with some of the financial requirements in exchange for a share of the profits when the film is released. coprod earn 80% of the profits received by touscoprod.

Distribution (release) Distribution

Projects at the distribution stage are films that have been made but not released to cinemas. Funding here concerns producing copies of the film, promoting its release, and looking for a distributor.

In return, touscoprod negotiates a share in the profits from the distributor when the film is released, 80% of which is shared with the coprod of the project.

6. How are the profits of the film calculated?

For each project, touscoprod negotiates a share in the profits of the film according to the amount given to the producers with respect to the total budget of the film and its state of progress. Each project is subject to specific negotiations which can be consulted in the “Earnings” tab for the project.

In any case, touscoprod undertakes to pay the coprod 80% of the profits made during the first 3 years of release (cinema ticket sales, DVDs, VOD, etc) and keeps 20% for its own costs. Accounts are produced every 6 months. Profits are paid directly onto the coprod’s account and they can be taken out of the website or invested in other projects.

7. Can I lose my investment?
If you support a project you cannot avoid the risk that it might be a failure. If the film does not balance its budget neither you nor touscoprod will receive profits. To reduce the risks, you can spread your investments over several projects and the profits from successful projects can compensate for losses on others. Basically you will be acting like a real producer!
8. What happens if the project does not meet its objective before the deadline?
Your investment will be fully refunded. You can re-invest it in another project from the catalogue or ask for a refund to be paid into your bank account.
9. How can I be sure that my money will be used properly by the producer?
The budget corresponds to a need that has been clearly identified by touscoprod and the film’s producers. touscoprod will make this money available as needs arise and when invoices are presented by the producers.
10. What is going on with my investment?
When you invest in a project, you can get all the information about your investment and profit sharing from the project file. All your investments and transactions are shown in the “My co-productions” tab in your account.
11. What is the best configuration to browse the touscoprod site?
We recommend the use of the browser Mozilla Firefox that you can download free of charge here.
12. How does Facebook Connect work?

With Facebook Connect you can identify yourself on the touscoprod website by using your Facebook user ID. You can also inform your friends on Facebook automatically about what you're doing on the touscoprod website. You can configure Facebook Connect in your account settings.

13. How can I contact other touscoprod users?
You can chat with other users on the walls of the projects you are supporting.
14. How can I promote the project I am supporting?
Part of your role as a coprod or fan is to promote your projects. There are various ways to do this:

- Using social bookmarking, you can tell your network about a project
- You can configure your own trailer in the media kit tab of your profile.

Your work is crucial to give maximum visibility to your project when it is distributed. In this way you can ensure the best return on your investment.
15. Where can I see the services that I am entitled to use?
All the services that you are entitled to use can be consulted on project pages.
16. How does “My reserve/My profits” work?
Once the film that you are supporting has been released, you will receive earnings from your investment every six months. They will appear in the “Earnings” field in the “My co-productions” tab in your profile.

You can transfer your profits to your reserve and invest this money in projects that you choose.
17. What is the function “Follow me” for?

This function allows you to monitor work done by a coprod on the touscoprod site. You will be informed about all the work that they do in the touscoprod community.

18. How are films selected to be put online?
Projects put online are chosen by a committee according to different selection criteria. When a film is chosen, the committee decides when and how the project will be put online on the website.
19. How can a project be entered?
We only work with projects as co-producers of a film. For legal reasons, a project must therefore be presented by a producer who has been delegated to appear in our catalogue.
If this is your case, just send an email to the Acquisitions Department enclosing the following items:

- a synopsis
- a technical description
- a letter of intention from the director

- the screenplay of the film
- a presentation of the production company

- the CVs of the screenwriter and the director

- the budget and the financial plan
